On May 5, 2026, a specialist presentation by our Senior Consultant M.Sc. Michael Enslin will take place at the Technologiezentrum Westbayern (TCW) in Nördlingen on the topic “Cyber Resilience Act – Target Year 2027: The Security Clock Is Ticking for Industrial Automation.”
The event offers companies in industrial automation a compact overview of the new regulatory requirements of the European Union in the field of cybersecurity. With the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which will become mandatory from December 2027, manufacturers and operators of connected systems are facing far-reaching challenges. Controllers, sensors, drives, and complete production systems are increasingly coming into the focus of regulation.
In his presentation, Michael Enslin explains which products and systems are specifically affected and which measures companies should already take today to ensure they can continue to offer their products on the EU market in the future. In this context, the industrial standard IEC 62443 is highlighted as a proven framework that enables companies—especially small and medium-sized enterprises—to implement cybersecurity requirements in a structured and cost-efficient manner.
The focus is on practical examples and concrete solution approaches from industrial automation. These include, among others, secure machine communication using certificate-based encryption, centralized authentication via modern identity providers, systematic vulnerability scanning, and the use of a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) to ensure transparency of software components.
The presentation not only provides a well-founded introduction to the requirements of the CRA, but also offers valuable insights into how companies can strategically use the remaining time until 2027—as a basis for compliance and for sustainably strengthening their cyber resilience.
