From 14th until 21st of August 2019 ITQ is holding the first of two summercamps in Maspalomas on Gran Canaria. The motto of the first camp is “Bamboo Solar Car” which aims to built the third stage of a prototype of an electric vehicle that generates electricity by using solar cells. The vehicle will be designed for African needs and consist of easy-to-procure and sustainable materials, such as bamboo. A team of eight international students will work on this project.
The next step will be to build further prototypes in Botswana in November 2019 within the frame-work of a makeathon and to train the local community in building similar cars.
The second summercamp with the motto “Removal of plastics from the ocean and the environment” will take place in September.
