The EU-funded special initiative „In the Same Code“, carried out by the Sergio Alonso Stiftung (Spain) and the Gerda Stetter Stiftung “Technology is Fun!”, ended in July 2024 with great success. Since September 2022, over 2,000 young people on Gran Canaria have been introduced to programming and robotics in a fun way and their digital skills have been strengthened.

A total of 62 technology coaches, including university and vocational school students, were trained to teach children and young people various technical skills in workshops. They worked with various programming languages and robotics kits and developed their own projects and ideas in order to apply and deepen what they had learned in practice.

What were we able to achieve?

Digital Education:
Over 2,000 children received high-quality training in digital technologies.

Equality of opportunity:
The project promoted the participation of girls and young women in STEM fields.

Sustainable impact:
The trained technology coaches will continue to act as mentors to ensure the sustainability of the project.

The “In the Same Code” project has once again confirmed our long-standing commitment to digital education and shown how important it is to equip young people with digital skills at an early age. This is how we make the younger generations fit for the future of tomorrow.
