The future meets the classics: STEM at the National Motor Museum

Amidst legendary Iconic cars at the Classic Car Museum National Motor Museum – The Loh Collection have the ITQ GmbH and the Friedhelm Loh Group GmbH On 9 and 10 December 2025, they demonstrated what modern youth development can look like: 200 young people from the Lahn-Dill district immersed themselves in around 30 practical workshops They programmed robots, built sensor systems and explored sustainable energy and environmental technology. At the same time, 15 apprentices from the Friedhelm Loh Group were trained as technical coaches for the first time, thereby becoming part of the tried-and-tested The ‘Coach the Coach’ principle integrated into the ITQ.

On the first day of the event, ITQ engineers and students provided training to selected Loh apprentices in Robotics, programming, mechanics, and energy and environmental engineering – Knowledge that the new technology coaches put into practice the very next day during the pupils’ workshops. At the get-together that followed, Experts from industry and universities are joining forces to discuss Effective strategies for modern STEM promotion to discuss. An exclusive guided tour of the Loh Collection rounded off the day.

On the second day, they ventured out Tech enthusiasts aged 12 to 16 are interested in robots, programmable microcontrollers and sustainability models and much more. The teams were supported by ITQ coaches and the newly trained Loh apprentices. Among the most popular activities were robotics workshops featuring mBot, LEGO Mindstorms and KARL by MEDION; programming workshops using Arduino and Minecraft Education; and sustainable technology such as hydrogen models or the demonstrators from the EU-funded EduDemoS project covering energy and sustainability. The programme was complemented by interactive showrooms such as the „Digital Petting Zoo“ and the „Kinect Robot Battle“, as well as a gearbox-building course run by the partner SEW-EURODRIVE.With this event, ITQ GmbH is underlining its long-standing commitment to practice-oriented STEM education and is continuing to expand its sphere of influence across Germany. At the same time, the partnership with Friedhelm Loh Group GmbH reinforces the shared vision of attracting young people to technical careers and innovative technologies at an early stage. The National Car Museum – The Loh Collection provided an extraordinary backdrop for this and created an inspiring atmosphere in which the history of technology and innovation could come together.

The Education Event is part of the ITQ Roadmap „CirQmind – Circular Economy through Circular Society“, which comprises various international education and technology projects running until 2027. The next stages are the SMART GREEN ISLAND MAKEATHON in Gran Canaria in February 2026, as well as further MAKEATHONS at leading international trade fairs such as the interpack 2026 and the automatica 2027.
