MI5 Showcase

Hands-on engineering

An interdisciplinary and international team of 20 highly motivated students from various disciplines, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and from numerous countries, including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Tunisia and China, have worked together with partners from industry, research and academia on the project „Showcase Wed5“ implemented.

Wed5 means „Mechatronic, Ideal-Type Engineering“, which contains the following 5 i's fulfilled: innovative, interdisciplinary, international, incremental and iterative. This “engineering demonstration facility” was set up both virtually and in real life and showcased at the trade fair PLC IPC Drives 2014 presented for the first time. It sets out, in a highly abstract manner, how the individual engineering steps are to be carried out.
