RETHINK – Innovative Remanufacturing

Integrating circular processes into existing production systems

The RETHINK research project (Remanufacturing for the industrial circular economy in SMEs using existing systems) aims to enable companies to achieve more sustainable and resource-efficient production.

By integrating circular processes – in particular remanufacturing – into existing production systems, plants are utilised more efficiently and downtime is avoided.

In this project, ITQ GmbH is focusing on the use of innovative digital technologies for the planning and control of circular processes. A key element of this is the use of a digital twin that models a flexible, hybrid disassembly and reassembly line.

Tools and technologies used

FAQ

RETHINK develops methods for integrating remanufacturing processes into existing production systems, thereby enabling more sustainable production.

In remanufacturing, used products or components are reconditioned and restored to as-new condition in order to conserve resources and close material cycles.

The digital twin provides a virtual representation of the disassembly and reassembly line and supports the planning, optimisation and control of循环 processes.

ITQ develops digital solutions for the planning and management of remanufacturing processes and integrates state-of-the-art technologies to enable flexible production workflows.
