On September 23 and 24, 2026, our Senior Consultant M.Sc. Michael Enslin will deliver a presentation at the International Mechatronics Forum 2026 in Memmingen. His talk is titled: “Cyber Resilience Act – Target Year 2027: The Security Clock is Ticking for Industrial Automation.”

With the adoption of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), the European Union is setting the course for a new level of security for digital products. Starting in December 2027, manufacturers and operators of connected systems will be required to comply with comprehensive cybersecurity requirements. Industrial automation, in particular, will be significantly affected.

The presentation highlights the key requirements of the CRA and addresses central questions:
Which products are affected? What regulatory obligations arise? And how can companies prepare in time?

A key component of the talk is the classification of the IEC 62443 standard as a proven framework for practical implementation. Small and medium-sized enterprises, in particular, benefit from clearly structured measures that can be efficiently integrated into existing processes.

Practical examples illustrate how cybersecurity can be implemented in real-world scenarios:

  • Secure machine communication through certificate-based encryption
  • Unified access control using modern identity providers
  • Automated vulnerability scanning
  • Transparency through a Software Bill of Materials (SBOM)

The presentation offers valuable insights into how companies can strategically use the remaining time until 2027—not only to meet regulatory requirements, but also to strengthen their competitiveness in the long term.
