June 2021:

Aalen University of Applied Sciences (Aalen UAS) reports on its website about a patent application for a system for the automatic recording of manual machine interventions. The system was developed by Syntegon, one of the leading providers of process and packaging technology. Mechatronics students at Aalen UAS played a key role in the development. During their practical semester at Syntegon, they programmed a machine learning algorithm that tracks the hands of the worker using cameras when they intervene in the machine parts, saves the recording and then evaluates it.

We are very happy about this successful practical semester cooperation between Aalen UAS and Syntegon, which arose from the network event “1st Packaging Valley Makeathon 2020” of the Association Packaging Valley e.V. and ITQ GmbH.

A small excerpt: “The contact with the practical semester company Syntegon from Waiblingen came about at Packaging Valley Makeathon. During the event, students faced tasks from industrial companies over two days at five different locations and thus gained insights into professional practice and direct contact with developers. This first decentralized Makeathon was organized by companies from the packaging technology industry together with ITQ GmbH.”
